1. ENV 105 – Earth Science
This course gives an introduction to the basic concepts in earth science, including the description, analysis, and interpretation of the major components of the earth’s natural environment. You’ll learn about the geologic elements of the earth system including earth materials, internal processes, and external processes. There will also be a focus on the structure and processes of the atmosphere and the resulting weather patterns.
2. PHI 101 – Introduction to Philosophy
This class gives a historical introduction to the major fields of Western philosophy. You’ll discuss topics such as logic, metaphysics, epistemology, and ethics. 3. ANP 130 – Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology I
This class is part of a two course series the unifying concepts of anatomy and physiology. The goal of the courses is to help you understand the human body as a structural and functional unit. This course emphasizes the mechanisms that underlie the normal functions of cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems. Other topics include the study of basic biochemistry, cell biology, histology, and the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, and endocrine systems.human body systems
4. ART 201 – Painting I
This class will be a welcome break from your other lectures throughout the day. This course gives an introduction to the study of oil painting with an emphasis on technique, color, composition using a variety of supports including stretched canvas, wood, and paper. Your projects will focus on issues of space, place and the still life. There are also analogous ART courses in sculpture, ceramics, photography, and printmaking.
5. COM 201 – Presentational Speaking
This course will prepare you to speak in a variety of rhetorical situations. There will be emphasis on researching, preparing, organizing, and presenting a variety of speeches for varied audiences. You will learn about various modes of speech (impromptu, extemporaneous, manuscript, and memorized) and rhetorical objectives (informative, persuasive, inspirational/motivational).
6. ENG 120 – Introduction to Professional Writing
Writing professionally and effectively is important for every field of study. This course examines the field of professional writing and explores writing conventions in various organizational contexts. In particular, you will discuss format, style, research documentation, and both produce and analyze documents tailored to real-world situations.
7. ACC100 – Personal Finance
No matter what you’re majoring in, managing your personal finances is a must. This course will teach you the necessary information and decision-making tools needed to manage your personal financial plan. This class is designed to be an elective and is open to all majors
8. SOC 101 – Introduction to Sociology
This course gives an introduction to sociological concepts, explanations, and research findings. The objective of the class is to enable students to better understand the society in which they live and their place in that society. Some course topics include culture, inequality, social relationships, deviance, membership in groups and social institutions such as education, religion and the family.
9. EDU 102 – Exploration in Education and Society
If you’re considering going into the field of education, this is a good place for you to test it out. This course introduces you to the field of education as a significant cultural function in society. You will interact with guest speakers and participate in field explorations to examine the variety of elements in the social and cultural environments in which schooling occurs. You will also learn about the historical and philosophical foundations of education and how education is grounded in sociocultural theories.
10. MUS 105 – Class Piano I
If you’re interested in music, this class is the perfect opportunity to have fun and earn an extra credit. This course teaches fundamental piano skills to establish basic piano proficiency.
