Students at SUNY New Paltz look for easy courses or bird courses to take as electives. Here is a list of 10 of the easiest classes at SUNY New Paltz.

1. MUS 110 – Intro to Music Studies

This course is highly recommended for students that are into music! You could go watch perfomances at Studley and talk or write about them. Very easy and enjoyable class.

2. GLG 201 – Physical Geology

If you are looking to go into sciences, take it as a GPA booster. This course is super easy and highly recommended.

3. THE 310 – Live Theatre Experience

This course is simply amazing. You could go to 4 different shows in NYC. The bad side is you would need to pay an additional $250 to get into this course.

4. CMM 214 – Storytelling and Culture

If you are looking for an easy GE course, this would be the perfect one. Clear and easy assignments (may vary depending on the professor). Taking this course with Anne Goding is recommended!

5. MUS 260 – History of Rock

This course goes over the Rock music styles from 1950 to the present. Emphasis is placed on the ethnic, cultural, and historical contexts surrounding each era. Special attention will be given to important artists and their music.

6. THE 230 – Introduction to Acting

This class is as simple as it can get. All you need to do is show up. If you love acting, that would be a plus.

7. ARS 140 – Introduction to Painting

If you are a student that love arts and paintings, this would be the class to take. You will learn the basic use of materials and organizational concepts in painting for example light, value and color.

8. BLK 272 – Rap and Spoken Word

This class will go over rap and spoken word from the 1960’s to the present. Focus on socio-cultural context, aesthetics, themes, styles; and on the impact of materialism, misogyny, controlling imagery and their relationship to the current conditions of African descendant people.

9. EDS 376 – Expressive Arts in Education

This is an experiential course, introducing the practical applications of the expressive arts therapies, including movement, music, paint, clay, journal keeping and drama, and their use in the fields of education and the human services.

10. THE 235 – Introduction to Theatre

You are required to attend plays and shows for this class which is quite enjoyable. You also get GE credits for this class. You also need to write 5 simple papers.
