5 Types of Roommates You Will Meet in University

For new students, it is always very exciting to meet their new roommates. They could turn out to be a life long best friend(s), or they could turn out to be the worst. That is why it’s smart for students to get to know each other online before they actually meet. But even after that, it’s hard to tell they personality of their future roommate until they actually meet. So here are 5 types of roommates you will meet in university.

1. Pub II Lover

It’s always nice to have a roommate that wants to have fun during school. But there are people who think college isn’t college unless they party every night. No one knows how they manage to go out every single night, miss their first class the next morning, and still manage to pass. It could get really annoying when a student is sleeping and their drunk roommate comes back at 4 am very loudly.

2. Mr./Ms. Clean

It could be good to have a roommate that is very organized, but it could also be a pain if they are very clean. They constantly feel guilty about their roommate’s side of the room as if they didn’t clean that area for 10 years. And if they leave a single evidence that they used a shared item/area, they will for sure complain about it.

3. Passive Aggressive One

For the first couple of weeks, roommates try to find more out about each other. And it’s very possible for there to be a crash of opinions. But there are types of people who don’t express their feelings in person, but rather text or leave a note for their roommate. For example, they could say that they’re okay with people coming over, but later they would text their roommate and say otherwise.

4. Only There for Education

Rarely, students will be paired with a roommate that is solely at college for education. Those are the types of people who never go out, and always go to the library or stay at their dorm and study. It could be hard for their roommates to bring friends over if their roommate studying all day. But it’s also not bad having a smart roommate, because they can help stay focused and also get help on their school work.

5. The Nocturnal One

These are the type of people who don’t do what they’re suppose to do during the day, and save it up to do it at night. It could be 3 am and while their roommate is sleeping, they’re either binging on Netflix or doing their homework. They claim they work better at night, but they always end up over sleeping.

So there it is. 5 types of roommates students are likely to see in university. There are pros and cons to each of these types, but in the end, it’s all about how roommates understand and care for each other. As long as they come up with an agreement, their dorm lives will be very peaceful. It could also turn out to be very fun.
